CASS COUNTY – Members of the Cass County Board of Supervisors introduced new county engineer to the public in person and electronically on Tuesday morning during the board’s regular meeting.

Last month, the board approve hiring Trent Wolken as the engineer after former engineer Charles Bectold resigned last year.

Wolken was scheduled to start the job on Monday, and said on Tuesday that the way started the job was unique.

“It’s been kind of an unusual day with the courthouse locked down,” he said.

The whole meeting was somewhat unusual as members offered residents and the media the chance to attend in person or communicate online. Two supervisors, Mark O’Brien and Frank Waters, also communicate online as well.
