Residents in Griswold and Lewis experienced a power outage late Friday and through Saturday.

Cass County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Kennon said on Saturday there was a fire call late Friday night of a light pole near a transformer station, which caused a number of customers to lose power overnight.

He said crews were still working on the issue on Saturday, and it was likely the power would be off until late Saturday afternoon. He said there were some places, like the Griswold Care Center, that did have back up generators to use for electricity.

In an email on Saturday, Kennon said about 2:30 p.m., he had reports that the power had been restored. Information from Mid-American Energy Outage Watch page showed on Saturday some areas were still tentatively scheduled to have power restored by 4 p.m.
