CASS COUNTY – The Cass County Board of Supervisors will consider taking action on changing a speed limit on a portion of 620th Street (Olive Street) south of Atlantic during its meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Several property owners voiced concerns about safely navigating the road since a new quarry is open in the area, and there will be increased truck traffic.

The speed limit is currently 55 miles per hour, and one recommendation is to make it 40 to 45 miles per hour.

One concern is with harvest season starting soon, it could be hard to navigate the road if both trucks and farm equipment were traveling on it at the same time.

Another concern was the liability that the county, and or property owners could face, if there was an accident on the road.

Board members hoped the item could be placed on an upcoming agenda as soon as possible with harvest starting soon, and they wanted to get it changed before producers started using large farm equipment.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 9 a.m., and be held in the board at the courthouse.
