ATLANTIC – The big move will be happening in about a week.
Officials at Rex Pharmacy and Atlantic Medical Center Pharmacy will be moving into one building, located in the former Sears building on Seventh Street on the east side of Atlantic.
“Everything is on track for our Sept. 16 opening date,” said Owner Josh Borer said on Thursday.
Borer said the Atlantic Medical Center Pharmacy will close in its current location on Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. Customer files there will be transferred to Rex Pharmacy, allowing them to get medications there. Rex Pharmacy will be open from 8:30 a.m. until noon on Sept. 13, but then will close the rest of the day and during the weekend to move inventory and equipment to the new location and to prepare for opening day on Sept. 16. However, Borer said people will still be able to call the Rex Pharmacy number at 243-2110 on Friday afternoon and Saturday if they have an urgent care need at those times.
He said the business will still offer similar items that they already do now, but they will also have a drive through window available for customers to pick up medications, areas with semi-private panels for customers to speak directly to pharmacist and even private rooms for the same reason. They will continue to offer free delivery services throughout Cass County, and they will still have the Rex Pharmacy location in Anita.
Borer also said the hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, but they are open to expanding them in the future based on customer needs. He also noted that there is an on-call pharmacist available on Saturdays after the business has closed and on Sundays. People can call the Rex Pharmacy number and leave a message for the person on call if needed.
“We’re really excited about the building,” Borer said. “The design group that we used did a great job, (and so did) our team with their input in getting the design and flow of the pharmacy. I think it’s something the city of Atlantic and Cass County can really be proud of, and we’re proud of it. Our team is excited, and we’re really excited for our customer and for the community to see our new place.”
