GRISWOLD – An in person graduation ceremony was held for the Griswold Class of 2020 on Sunday, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, it was different from the usual ceremony.

First, the ceremony didn’t start until 4 p.m., and seniors could only invite nine family members or friends to attend. Seniors came in from the front of the gym, and sat with family members in groups spaced for social distancing instead of sitting together as a group. Students went on stage to receive their diploma, but instead of having a school board member hand the diploma to the student, diplomas were laid on a table for the student to pick up before exiting the stage. Seniors Kamryn Howell, Kacey Danker, Breydon Major and MacKenzie Schroder all gave speeches during the ceremony, along with Superintendent David Henrichs who closed out the ceremony with his speech.

The Class Motto is “Class of 2020, through hardships we triumph,” the class flower is a rose and the class colors are royal blue and silver.
