The Atlantic volleyball team joined other teams across the state earlier this week with their first day of practice for the 2019 season.

The Trojans seek to break into the Hawkeye Ten win column for the first time since 2011. The last H-10 victory came in the season opener against Creston, and the Trojans and coach Michelle Blake are pointed to this year being the one where the team will not only break into the victory column, but have a solid all-around season.

A core group of returning letterwinners will give the Trojans that opportunity: Seniors Chloe Davis and McKenzie Waters, and juniors Alyssa Derby, Caroline Pellett, Haley Rasmussen, Mia Trotter and Maycie Waters.

A more in-depth preview of the Trojan volleyball team, and all the other teams in the area, will be coming the final week of August. The Trojans will have their opening night Tuesday, Aug. 27, before opening the season Saturday, Aug. 31, at the AHSTW-hosted Lady Vikes Invitational in Avoca.
