School officials at both Griswold and CAM School District have decided to keep their same calendar schedule for next year, and plan on starting the week of Aug. 23.

Earlier this month, Governor Kim Reynolds said in one of her proclamations that school officials do not have to follow Iowa Code for the 2020-21 school year which states that districts can not start before Aug. 23.

Griswold Superintendent Dave Henrich said Tuesday that there were several factors still up in the air — such as what the status of the coronavirus would be in the next few months, and if people are able to travel, would students, teacher or staff even be available to attend school because of summer plans — the board decided not to change their start date.

CAM Superintendent Paul Croghan said school officials also decided not to change their calendar either, in part because they have already approved contracts for staff, and individual teachers would have agree to the change.
