ANITA – The Anita City Council made no decision to hire a public works director Wednesday night during a special meeting, and Anita City Clerk Kaitlin Hoegh said the council tentatively plans to consider the issue during its regular meeting on March 10.

Hoegh said the former public works director retired, and after advertising to hire a new one, the city received six applications.

The public works director is in charge of maintaining streets, parks and other city property, removing snow, ice and debris from streets and sidewalks, assisting with the city budget, and has wastewater certification. The job is a 40 hour a week job, and the council will determine compensation based on the job duties and the person’s experience.
