CASS COUNTY – The Cass County Board of Supervisors approved a contract with A.M. Cohron and Son Friday for work on a bridge south of the Interstate on Olive Street.

Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken told the board that he received six bids for work to replace the bridge, and A.M. Cohron and Son had the low bid of $664,562.32. He said he hadn’t had a conversation with the contractor yet, but thought work would happen next spring.

He said it was likely Olive Street would be closed for a period of time — he estimated a couple of months — and said there would be official detours, likely around Highway 71.

Wolken also said staff would be doing patch work around the county next week, and pointed out one area on County Road G35 and Jackson Road. A culvert was installed on G35 near Jackson Road last fall, and the area above the culvert needs a concrete patch put on it. He said work on that road would likely start on Monday, and the road would be closed for most of next week. He thought they would be done with the project on Thursday or Friday.
