Hanson’s Fine Jewelry is a family-owned business that has been open for 30 years and strives to give customers quality jewelry at the lowest prices.
Patrice and Kent Hanson opened Hanson’s Fine Jewelry in Forest City, a city of about 3,500, in 1989. They moved their location to Atlantic after their daughter Kendra married an Atlantic native and Geis Perry went up for sale.
“We had visited many times and liked the town,” said co-owner Kent Hanson. “Then we saw the jewelry shop was up for sale and took the opportunity to move to a bigger town and watch our grandkids grow up.”
Hanson’s specializes in in-store appraisals and repairs, so they have a quick turn-around rate. Most orders are completed at their 419 Chestnut Street location, except for some watch repairs and custom orders.
They also take pride in their affordable, yet good quality products.
“When you go to a big city, the prices are through the roof,” said Hanson. “At Hanson’s, we have hometown prices and get to build relationships with our customers.”
As a family-owned and run store, building relationships with their customers is a huge part of their business.
“It’s gratifying when someone comes in and says their parents bought an engagement ring from us 20 or so years ago,” Hanson said. “It reminds me that I’ve been in this business for a long time, but it’s also why I love it.”
