To welcome a new interim pastor to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, members will be holding a “Welcome Sunday” on Nov. 10. The interim pastor is Sharon Worthington.

“On Sunday, Nov 10 at 9 a.m., we will all wear name tags to greet each other all by first names!” members said. “It’s a great time to come say ‘Welcome’ to St. Paul’s new and old members, and people of our community. We will celebrate with our youth/God Squad singing and sharing of their current project “Operation Shoebox.” We invite everyone to enjoy a pancake breakfast and fellowship following service. We are also very excited for the return of Saturday Night Service beginning on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m.”

Pastor Sharon shares this, “As your new Interim Pastor, I wanted to briefly introduce myself. I am a retired ELCA pastor living in Council Bluffs. I was ordained in 1988, so I was in the first seminary class that graduated into the newly formed ELCA. Prior to attending Luther-Northwesten Seminary, I had worked as a college Finical Aid Director. I began ministry serving a two-point parish: Union State Line in rural Jackson, Minn. and Immanuel in Dunnell, Minn. Then, I served as a Co-Pastor at Grace in Sisseton, S.D. and later as Associate Pastor at Immanuel in Forest City. My most recent call was at Grand View in Dew Moines, where I served for 19 years. I was born in Sioux Falls, S.D. and am the oldest of 4 girls. My father was a pastor, and we lived in Newman Grove, Neb. and Brooklyn, N.Y. before moving to Teaneck, N.J. where I received most of my schooling. I graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton, S.D. after attending there my Junior/Senior year. I graduated from St. Olaf college in Northfield Minn. I am excited to serve here at St. Paul’s on a part-time basis in Atlantic on Wednesdays, Saturdays. and Sundays. I will flex my hours in case of emergencies and situation that may arise. I appreciate the ways you as member are picking up many of the tasks of ministry that need to be done. Together, we will function as at the part of Christ’s body here at St. Paul’s I pray God’s blessing on our time together.”
