Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is hosting a Farmland Leasing meeting at the Elk Horn Public Library, on Wednesday, Aug. 14 for those in Shelby and Audubon counties.
Tim Christensen, ISU Extension and Outreach Farm Management Specialist, said the workshops are about two and a half hours, with a 100-page leasing arrangement book provided.
“We’re going to be talking about farmland leasing rates, our surveys, what those rates are doing, farmland values, and then we’ll get more into the nuts and bolts of what the leases should look like, the legal side of that, and the tenant/landowner relationship and some things we can do there to help improve that because that’s probably the most important part to that relationship,” explained Christensen.
The meeting begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday. For more information, contact the Shelby County or Audubon County Extension Office.
