The regular meeting of the Walnut Genealogy Society was held on the frigid night of Feb. 13 at the Walnut Public Library at 7 p.m. Seven members and three guests were present.

Minutes from November and December were read. The 2019 financial report from treasurer Barb Butcher was shared.

Karen Hansen reported on queries. She continues to help Arnold Carbuhn with his Carbuhn, Burmeister, Beyer and Scheef families. Information and photos of Herbert and Evelyn Petersen were found for Lexie Thomas. Kaye Scott Roy had a query on Facebook about the home of Norman Holst, where she had lived as a girl. A photo of the house at 609 Walnut Street and some family information was shared with Kaye.

A letter was read from the Walnut Creek Station Questers, who have disbanded and donated their funds to our organization. We appreciate the donation to help with our work.

Annual dues are payable now. We have many obituaries to get alphabetized and into our notebooks; we work on Tuesday afternoons.

“Walnut Postmasters from 1870 — 2020” was the program given by Jim Hansen.

Our next meeting will be at the library at 7 p.m. on March 12 when Carolyn DeLay will give a program on the Daughters of the American Revolution. Visitors are always welcome.
