Martin Rieken was appointed to the Board of Directors of The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards as District 6 Director during the fall board meeting held Sept. 15.
As District 6 Director, Rieken represents funeral service regulators from Iowa, Kansas, Manitoba, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. He is currently serving his first term on the Iowa Board of Mortuary Science.
Rieken graduated from Griswold High School in 1993. He attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1997. In 1998 Rieken graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He has been a licensed funeral director since 1999. Rieken and his wife, Kristy, currently own and operate three funeral homes in Oakland, Griswald, and Shenandoah.
Rieken is a past president of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association (IFDA). He previously served the IFDA as District Four Governor, Secretary/Treasurer, President Elect, and President as well as serving on many ad hoc committees.
Active in his community, Rieken serves as Pastor Parish Committee Relations Chair at the Oakland United Methodist Church and is the current president of a nonprofit organization, Impact Hill, in Oakland. Marty and Kristy have five children: Kyler, Keaten, Kort, Kasper, and Maelie.
The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards is headquartered in Fayetteville, Ark.
