Staff at Olsen’s BP held a raffle drawing for customers who brought in donations for the food pantry, and the winner received a big stocking filled with goodies. Jaydree Petersen was the winner and is pictured with her family and the stocking.

Snow will lift into far southern Iowa early this morning and then will expand north into central Iowa during the day. Very heavy snowfall rates near 2 inches per hour are likely this afternoon and evening, leading to heavy accumulations over a short period of time. Increasing northeast winds gusting over 30 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow. Some uncertainty of snowfall amounts remains on the north edge of the snow band, where much less snow totals are possible over a short distance. ...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 6 AM CST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow amounts of 8 to 13 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...South Central Iowa. * WHEN...From 8 AM this morning to 6 AM CST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult over the entire warning to impossible. Blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility and cause moderate drifting. Near blizzard, whiteout conditions are possible.
