Audubon County Supervisor Rick Thompson was named Board Chairman during the Supervisors’ first meeting of the year. Vice-Chair is Todd Nelsen.

AUDUBON COUNTY — The Audubon County Supervisors have set their meeting dates, holidays, chosen a new board chairman and vice-chair during their first meeting of the New Year, and will be reviewing budget information at their meeting this week.

Rick Thompson was appointed as board chairman, with Todd Nelsen chosen as vice-chairman. The Audubon County Supervisors include Thompson, Nelsen and Gary VanAernam.

The board will meet each Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the Supervisors Room in the Audubon County Courthouse.

During this week’s meeting board members are expected to review budget amendment requests with departments, and postpone or set a public hearing for Fiscal Year 2020 budget amendment.

“We’re just getting started on that,” Thompson said.

Also, Chris Hemmingsen, Zoning Administrator, will update the supervisors and discuss a FY21 Budget Request around 10 a.m. and the board will discuss the Secondary Roads budget around 1 p.m.

During the first meeting of the year, the board approved the Audubon County Advocate Journal as the legal newspaper, and set the 2020 gas mileage reimbursement at 50 and one half cents per mile.

The following days have been approved as holidays for 2020: Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
