ATLANTIC — The Atlantic City Council agreed to appoint Atlantic resident Pat McCurdy to fill the Ward 3 Council seat left vacant by former Council member Ashley Hayes’ resignation.
Hayes was forced to resign the seat last month after moving out of the district in December. McCurdy was the only person in the ward to apply for the position.
McCurdy has been active in a number of local organizations including The Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce and most recently serving as President of the Cass Atlantic Development Corporation board.
The public now has 14 days to file a petition calling for a special election. If one is not is filed, McCurdy will hold the seat until the next scheduled election in November.
