ATLANTIC – Atlantic School Board Member Alison Bruckner announced Wednesday she will not be seeing re-election leaving at least two seat open on the board.
Bruckner is completing her first term on the board and said that while she has enjoyed her time on the board, she found herself in a time-crunch since she began working on obtaining a Doctorate of Education, which is taking between 20-30 hours a week.
“I’ve enjoyed my last four years and I think we’ve done a lot of great things — hiring a superintendent, getting the finances back under control, getting the bond passed,” she said adding her study was “a goal I want to finish for myself.”
Earlier this year, Dr. Keith Swanson announced he would not be seeking re-election.
Aside from Bruckner and Swanson’s seat, board member Jenny Williams’ seat will be up for re-election. Williams hasn’t announced if she will seek re-election. Individuals interested in running for the school board must have applications in by Sept. 19 with a minimum of 50 signatures. All seats on At-Large positions.
