Three people were injured in a two car accident in Shelby County Tuesday afternoon.

Raechel Spangler, 21, of Eagle Grove, was driving a 2016 Chevy eastbound on County Road F-58 at around 12:52 p.m., according to an Iowa State Patrol report.

At the same time, Matthew Strong, 24, of Harlan, was traveling north on Maple Road, driving a 1998 Lincoln, and failed to yield at the stop sign.

His Lincoln struck Spangler’s Chevy on the driver’s side.

The two vehicles came to rest in the ditch on the northeast side of the intersection.

Both drivers and a passenger in one vehicle were injured. Strong and Spangler were injured in the collision, along with Rose Strong, 22, of Harlan, the passenger in Strong’s vehicle.

Matthew and Rose Strong were transported to UNMC in Omaha by Avoca Rescue and Medivac. Spangler was transported to Myrtue Hospital in Harlan by Walnut Rescue.

Assisting the scene were Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement officer, Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies, Avoca and Walnut rescue and Medivac.
