ELK HORN - Winner, winner, chicken dinner! On Monday, March 13, you will be able to have a broasted chicken dinner, and help raise money for two Elk Horn causes - the first annual Tivoli Fest World Aebleskiver Eating Championship and the Danish WIndmill restoration project.
The Tivoli Fest Committee 2017 and the Village Cafe are sponsoring a broasted chicken dinner at the Elk Horn Town Hall on Monday night, from 5-8 p.m.
The menu includes chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables and a drink for $10 for adults, and $5 for kids ages 6-12. Kids 5 and under eat free, and carry outs will be available.
Tivoli Fest is planned for May 26-28, and this year a first ever eating competition - for Elk Horn - will pit some eating champions from Major League Eating against the clock - and the aebleskivers - as they vie for a world championship. Locals will also get a chance to compete.
Bringing Major League Eating - the company that puts on the Nathan’s Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest - to Elk Horn comes with a price, and organizers said there will be a number of fund-raisers planned to help pay for the event. In addition, proceeds will go towards the restoration of the Danish Windmill in Elk Horn.
The chicken dinner will be Monday, March 13 from 5-8 p.m. at the Elk Horn Town Hall.
