WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03) introduced an amendment to H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act, to extend tax credits for Iowa’s biodiesel, second generation biofuels and wind power industries. The Climate Action Now Act, which Rep. Axne has co-sponsored, would direct the President to develop a plan for the United States to meet its requirements under the Paris Agreement. The House is expected to vote on HR 9 later this week.

“Incentivizing investment in Iowa’s biodiesel, biofuel and wind power industries will not only help us fulfill our commitments under the Paris Agreement, but will create good-paying green jobs, support our farmers and rural communities and strengthen our national security,” said Rep. Axne.

On April 3, Rep. Axne introduced legislation to make the second generation biofuel producer tax credit permanent in order to support Iowa farmers, create jobs across the state and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. This legislation would incentivize investment in the development of advanced biofuel production by renewing a $1.01 per gallon tax credit for producers which expired at the end of 2017.
