Sold to Americans as a tax break for the middle class, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017 has created a deficit of nearly $2 trillion from lost revenue. Now the GOP-led Senate is indicating that a Republican win in 2020 could signal cuts to programs like Social Security and Medicare, leaving our most vulnerable at risk.

Over 600,000 Iowans rely on Medicare and cuts at any level would result in loss of care and higher out of pocket expenses for recipients. This would be catastrophic for Iowans who are most in need.

Senators Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley voted for the TCJA, a tax cut for the wealthy and corporations, and now Iowans receiving Medicare and Social Security are expected to pay the price.
