AUDUBON COUNTY — The Audubon County Supervisors have a new board chairman and vice-chair, set meeting dates and holidays during their first meeting of the New Year and spent time reviewing budget information at their meeting this week.

Rick Thompson was appointed as board chairman, with Todd Nelsen was chosen as vice-chairman during the organizational meeting last week. The Audubon County Supervisors include Thompson, Nelsen and Gary VanAernam.

The board meets each Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the Supervisors Room in the Audubon County Courthouse.

During this week’s meeting board members were expected to review budget amendment requests with departments, and postpone or set a public hearing for Fiscal Year 2020 budget amendment.

“We’re just getting started on that,” Thompson said.

Also, Chris Hemmingsen, Zoning Administrator, was to update the supervisors and discuss a FY21 Budget Request and the board was expected to discuss the Secondary Roads budget.

During the first meeting of the year, the board approved the Audubon County Advocate Journal as the legal newspaper, and set the 2020 gas mileage reimbursement at 50 and one half cents per mile.

The following days have been approved as holidays for 2020: Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
