ELK HORN -The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton School District will hold parent meetings on July 29-30 so parents can learn more about the district's "Return to Learn" plan.
Meetings at the Elk Horn MS/HS on July 29 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and at Exira Elementary at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on July 30. Principal Mary Bleth-Harris asked that those attending that you either wear a mask/face covering or practice social distancing.
The district sent out a letter to parents about the "Return to Learn" plan for the district last week, and Superintendent Trevor Miller said a survey showed 90 percent of district families planned to send their children back to school for in person learning. Some who want to keep kids at home can also do that, but they will have to commit to doing that for a set period of time, to make scheduling easier.
Also, face coverings will be expected but will not be required.
Parents will be able to get questions answered at the meetings coming up this week, but administrators had warned in the letter sent earlier, "nothing is written in stone," and district plans could change because things were still being discussed at the state level.
Currently the district is looking at using an option with students attending four days a week, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with Wednesdays for cleaning and helping families whose students attend remotely.
Other options, including one with A and B days, and another with students learning remotely.
The letter is available on the district's website at https://www.exira-ehk.k12.ia.us/
