DES MOINES – The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) announced today it will open an early round of funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Community Facilities Fund. Approximately $1.6 million in CDBG funds is available for this application round.
The CDBG Community Facilities Fund is a competitive grant program that provides funds to cities and counties to assist with a variety of projects. Eligible projects include day care facilities, senior centers, vocational workshops and other community services, such as stormwater projects.
To be eligible for funding, at least 51 percent of the residents served by the project must be low- to moderate-income. For purposes of the CDBG program, “low and moderate income” is defined as persons with incomes at or below 80 percent of the area median income as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Applications will be available via iowagrants.gov starting Nov. 1. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 17, 2020.
