Audubon County Sheriff

Arrests

Deputies with the Audubon County Sheriff’s Office arrested Larry Phipps, 59 of Council Bluffs, on Dec. 14, on an outstanding warrant for possession of a controlled substance marijuana third and possession of Meth — second. While in booking, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and was charged with possession of Meth — third. He was seen by the magistrate and held on a $15,000 bond.

Donald Paulsen, 84, of Kimballton, was arrested on Dec. 17, for operating while intoxicated, assault on persons of certain occupation and interference with official acts. He was seen by the magistrate and released on his own recognizance.

Jose Sorrosa, 30 of Audubon, was arrested on Dec. 27, for operating while intoxicated, open container and no valid driver’s license. He was released on his own recognizance and will appear before the magistrate at a later date.

Jacob Sweeney, 27 of Audubon, was arrested on Dec. 31, on an outstanding violation of parole warrant. After his arrest, he was also charged with Interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held in the Audubon County Jail on no bond.

Shelby County Sheriff

Arrests

Dec. 27 - William Allen Yoder, 63, of Elk Horn, was arrested for driving while revoked. He was released the next day on his own recognizance and given a future court date.

Jan. 5 - William Allen Yoder was arrested - again - for driving while revoked. He was being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond, pending appearance before a magistrate.

Jan. 3 - Wayne Earl Johnson, 37, of Dow City, was arrested following a traffic stop along Highway 59 at around 2am. He was charged with driving under suspension, possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and prohibited acts. Johnson was taken to the Shelby County Jail and released a short time later after posting the required $3,200 surety bond.

Jan. 2 - Shelby County deputies arrested Lee Jung Hoon Hansen, 59, of Avoca, following a traffic stop at the intersection of Highways 59 and 44. Hansen was charged with driving while barred and released from the Shelby County Jail the following morning on his own recognizance after appearing before the magistrate.

Dec. 23 - Timothy Steven McFarland, 29, was arrested following a traffic stop speeding violation along Highway 37. Upon further investigation, McFarland was arrested for OWI/1st offense. He was also cited for failure to yield half the roadway, windshield obstruction, and speeding. McFarland was transported to the Shelby County Jail and released the next day on his own recognizance.

Arrests

On Dec. 25 - Zeth Lee Petersen, 24, of Audubon. Petersen was charged with burglary – second degree and theft – third degree. Petersen was arrested and transported to the Audubon County Jail and held on a $12,000 cash bond.

On Jan. 3 - Scott Nathaniel Belew, 30, of Audubon. Belew was charged with driving under suspension. Belew was released on scene on promise to appear.

On Jan. 5 - Payton Thomas Watzke, 35, of Audubon. Watzke was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. Watzke was transported to the Audubon County Jail to appear before a magistrate.
