Juveniles In Custody Following Armed Robbery At East Casey's

Atlantic Police responded to an armed robbery at the Casey’s East store in Atlantic on Wednesday evening. Staff there said Thursday they could not talk about the robbery.

ATLANTIC — The staff at East Casey’s in Atlantic said Thursday they couldn’t talk about an armed robbery that occurred there on Wednesday evening.

Atlantic Police sent a news release about the robbery on Thursday morning, saying officers were dispatched to the store at 1408 East Seventh Street for a hold up alarm at approximately 10:57 p.m. on Wednesday night, and while in route, got confirmation that an armed robbery had taken place and a weapon had been displayed. While investigating the incident, police took two local juveniles into custody. They are being held on first degree armed robbery charges. Atlantic Police Chief Dave Erickson said on Thursday morning the juveniles in custody were a 16-year-old and 17-year-old.

No injuries occurred during the incident. Department officials say the investigation is still ongoing, and because of that, no further information was expected to be released as of Thursday. Officers from the Atlantic Police Department were assisted by deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Iowa State Patrol.
