This has been a very difficult time during this pandemic, but there have been people who have worked very hard to help us all get through this in an easier way. We would like to thank a few of them publicly, knowing that we can’t possibly thank everyone.
The Exira Community Club worked tirelessly to provide us with a very nice 4th of July celebration in as safe a manner as could be done. From what we could see, people watched the parade and fireworks with good social distancing. The Road Run was well attended and, of course, socially distanced! The carnival went above and beyond with sanitizing and keeping kids separated on the rides. They had to cancel many events but were able to provide us with some good ways to celebrate this great nation of ours. People were able to participate in whatever way they felt comfortable.
The Conservation Board and Bruce Haag and his crew maintain a fabulous bike trail and very busy Littlefield Park. It is wonderful to see so many people enjoying the great outdoors in a safe way!
The Rose Theater is able to provide good quality movies for entertainment, with safety considerations in mind, as well.
The ”Music in the Park” on Thursday nights is a wonderful way to hear great entertainment and enjoy being outside………..again in a safe manner!
Our restaurants are continuing to provide excellent food and service, whether it is inside dining, carry-out or curb delivery.
The Farmer’s Markets in Exira and Audubon offer a variety of tasty treats and are easily socially distanced.
Our local public health and EMS officials are working hard to keep us safe and informed, as well as managing the contact tracing and reporting that is required.
Most importantly, our churches are open again with safety measures in place. The best thing we can do to get through this is to pray, whether you are at church or at home. God is stronger than Covid! Our Ministerial Association hosted an ecumenical church service in the park with wonderful music by the Fulk family. We all socially distanced and really enjoyed the outdoor service!
The list can go on and on, but you get the picture. We are all in this together and we will come out of it stronger than ever if we all do our part to be smart, maintain our social distancing, wear masks as needed and also do what we can to support our local businesses.
Thank you to all of those who are doing so much for so many!
