SHELBY COUNTY — Three people were injured in a two car accident north of Harlan on Tuesday.
According to an Iowa State Patrol report, at around 12:52 p.m., Raechel Spangler, 21, of Eagle Grove, was driving a 2016 Chevy eastbound on County Road F-58.
Matthew Strong, 24, of Harlan, was traveling north on Maple Road, driving a 1998 Lincoln, and failed to yield at the stop sign.
He struck Spangler’s Chevy on the driver’s side, and the two vehicles came to rest in the ditch on the northeast side of the intersection.
Strong and Spangler were injured in the collision, along with a passenger in Strong’s vehicle, Rose Strong, 22, of Harlan. Matthew and Rose Strong were transported to UNMC in Omaha by Avoca Rescue and Medivac; Spangler was transported to Myrtue Hospital in Harlan by Walnut Rescue.
Assisting the scene were Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement officer, Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies, Avoca and Walnut rescue and Medivac.
