AUDUBON - The Audubon County Supervisors are concerned about the proposed moving of the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 4 office out of Atlantic and to Council Bluffs.
The supervisors are drafting a letter - like other area counties have done - to send to IDOT officials about the possible changes, and plan to approve and sign the letter at next week’s meeting.
Audubon County Engineer, Mitch Rydl, said the county has a lot of testing done at the District 4 location in Atlantic - the move could cost more time due to the longer distance, and possibly cost the county more money.
“The contractors are going to be unhappy because they have to take (the samples) to Council Bluffs,” he said, “And that is going to increase the cost of projects, slightly.”
The maintenance shop - where snow plows for the area are dispatched from - is expected to stay in Atlantic.
