ANITA — The weather report for Saturday, Feb. 22 isn’t in yet but since it’s February, it’s likely to be cold.
How cold? Well, cold enough for the annual Anita Redneck Brrrrrr Tractor Ride, and of course, the third annual Pancake Breakfast at the Anita American Legion Hall. And just in case it snows — the snowdate for the breakfast is Feb. 29.
The breakfast is a fund-raiser for the Anita Legion’s scholarship fund, and a great way to get going, whether you are just starting out your Saturday, or you will be heading out on the tractor ride.
The meal includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee for a free will offering. It’s offered from 6:30 a.m. until 9 a.m.
The Tractor Ride will take off from downtown Anita at 9 a.m. and will make a variety of stops around Anita. Tractor riders can register when they show up. You don’t have to have an antique tractor to ride — any one will do.
The tractor ride makes a lunch stop at The Weathervane in Anita around noon, where they have soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for a free will donation. A number of prizes are awarded, for the tractor rider coming from the farthest away, the one traveling the shortest distance to get there, and some Red/Green themed awards including the True Redneck, Low Rider and Wimpy/City Slicker. An Overall Traveling Trophy is also awarded. For more information or questions: Bill Russell: 712-249-2183, Maynard Hansen: 712-249-0099 or Ralph Wickey: 712-779-0176
