The Nishna Valley Family YMCA offers lots of fun events, including theme skate nights and Kids Explore Events, like the Circus theme event held on Saturday.
For the last several years now, the YMCA has held monthly “Themed” skating parties on the second Friday of each month, giving littler skaters the gym floor the first hour, with skating walkers, from 5-6 p.m. Then all ages skate from 6-8 p.m. This opportunity is open to both members and non-members, and we have seen up to 300 people at these events. There is usually laser tag, bounce houses, and concession stands open.
The third Saturday of each month our “Themed” Kids Explore Event is held from 9 a.m. to noon. An event that is also open to members and non-members alike, and has had “Dinosaur Days” with a Dinosaur costume walking around, and “Down on the Farm” with miniature ponies and live animals in the gyms, an area for kids to dig in a corn pit, bounce houses, numerous activities, and a snack and smoothie area. This last Saturday, YMCA staff held our “Circus Days” with a variety of games and prizes, compliments of Cody Newman, face painting by Cathy Meyers, balloon animals by Paul Iekel, and several fun clowns.
“We had around 200 in attendance, providing a wonderful morning of family fun,” organizers said. “These are just two of the many opportunities that our YMCA has to offer. As you can imagine, all of these activities take lots of man (and women) hours to set up and take down.......and we are always needing additional help to make these events possible.
