The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to keep training camp at Division II Missouri Western State University through the 2024 season. Chiefs coach Andy Reid has long been a proponent of sequestering his teams on college campuses to help build unity. The Missouri Western facility is about an hour north of Kansas City, which means players and staff can still return home for off days, though they otherwise remain in the dorms on campus. The Chiefs once held training camp in Wisconsin but have called Missouri Western home since 2010.
Isaac Traudt is transferring from Virginia to Creighton. Traudt was one of the top national recruits and the highest-rated high school player in Nebraska last year. He sat out this season as a redshirt and will have four years of eligibility. The 6-foot-10 forward averaged better than 23 points and eight rebounds per game during his junior and senior years at Grand Island High School. Former Olympic runner Oscar Pistorius was denied parole Friday after it was decided that he had not served the “minimum detention period” required to be released from prison following his murder conviction for the 2013 killing of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. South Africa’s Department of Corrections said in a statement that the parole board hearing Pistorius’ application ruled he would be able to apply again in August 2024. The board cited a new clarification on Pistorius’ prison sentence that was issued by South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal three days ago. There has been legal wrangling over how much jail time Pistorius has served and when he should be eligible for parole because of the series of appeals in his case.
